About Nepali Language

The Nepali language is a member of the Indo-European family of languages. It is the official language of Sikkim and the Darjeeling region of West Bengal in India, as well as Nepal's lingua franca. Bhutan, sections of India, and Burma, as well as Uttaranchal and Assam, speak the language. The language, which is also known as Nepalese, Gorkhali, Gurkhali, and other names, is reported to have a long cultural history and is the language of the Nepali Gorkhas. The language is also known as Khas Kura, which was the Khasa kingdom's language.

Nepali is written in the Devanagari script and comes from the Pahari language family. As a blend of Tibeto-Burman languages, it is spoken in adjacent countries such as Burma and Bhutan. Because it is evolved from Sanskrit, the language is quite similar to Hindi, India's official language. Nepali was first written in the Devanagari alphabet, which was developed from the Brahmi script, in the 12th century A.D. (11th century A.D.).

The Nepali language is the mother tongue of approximately two-thirds of Nepal's population, and it is currently utilised by the government and as a common language. However, it is only used in courts. Bhutan also has some Nepali speakers who are currently residing in refugee camps in eastern Nepal.

This extraordinary Nepalese language has its own literary canon. Sundarananda Bara wrote the Adhyatma Ramayana in Nepali in the late nineteenth century, whereas Bhanubhakta wrote the other version. In Nepali, a tiny collection of folk stories called as Birsikka was also compiled. A large number of Sanskrit words were translated, which greatly enhanced the language.
