About Kannada Language: Kannada is a Dravidian language that is sometimes known as Kanarese or Kannana. It is the official language of the state of Karnataka in southern India. Kannada is also spoken in Karnataka's neighbouring states. According to census data from the early twenty-first century, 38 million people spoke Kannada as their first language, with another 9 to 10 million speaking it as a second. The Indian government recognised Kannada as a classical language in 2008. Kannada is the second-oldest of the four major Dravidian languages with a literary tradition, behind Tamil. The oldest Kannada inscription, which dates from around 450 CE, was unearthed in the small town of Halmidi. The Kannada script arose from the Ashokan Brahmi script's southern variants. As in other Dravidian languages, the word order is subject–object–verb. Person, number, and gender are all indicated in verbs. The case-marking pattern is nominative-accusative, with the dative being used by experienced subjects. The majority of inflexion, especially inflexion, is achieved through affixation. The language includes a number of voiced and voiceless aspirates taken from the Indo-Aryan language family, as well as characteristic Dravidian retroflex consonants.
